Ashamu Sewanu Fadipe
Ashamu Sewanu Fadipe is a native of Badagry and was born on the 2nd April 1957. He graduated from the University of Paris X Nanterre, France where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Sociology in 1984 and 1995 respectively.
Mr. Ashamu Sewanu Fadipe is an experienced and tested public servant who had worked at both Federal and State establishments. He began his career with the National Orientation Agency (former MAMSER-Director for Social Mobilisation) in 1989 as a Senior Mobilization Officer and rose to the position of a Chief Orientation Officer in 1998.
He joined Lagos State Public Service as the pioneer General Manager, Lagos State Tourism Board in September 1998. He also served as the Director of Tourism in the defunct Lagos State Waterfront and Tourism Development Corporation between the year 2000 and 2007.
In 2008, he was appointed the pioneer Permanent Secretary for the newly established Ministry of Tourism and Inter-Governmental Relations; a position he held for over five years (October 2008 to January 2014).
While in the Ministry, he engineered the development of tourism projects and programmes and facilitated various policies and regulations towards development of tourism and hospitality in Lagos State. He also served as Permanent Secretary at Lagos State Local Government Service Commission.
Mr. Fadipe is a renowned tourism professional and fellow, Institute for Tourism Professionals, Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management and Global Institute of Tourism and Hospitality of Nigeria. He served as a Focal Point and Member of Technical and Scientific Group on Coastal Tourism in Africa, a project being implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, (UNIDO) and the United Nations World Tourism Organization, (UNWTO) between 2006 – 2013.
